Signs it is time to get help
Substance use does not have to reach a crisis before professional support becomes appropriate. Changes in health, relationships, responsibilities, or emotional well-being can signal that it may be time to consider treatment.
Signs may include:
- Drinking or using more than intended, or struggling to cut back
- Falling behind at work, school, or family responsibilities
- Experiencing cravings, withdrawal symptoms, anxiety, or low mood when substance use stops
- Returning to use after previous attempts to quit
- Continuing to use despite problems at home, work, or in relationships
- Hearing concern from friends or family members
