Signs it may be time to get help
Substance use does not have to reach a crisis before professional treatment becomes appropriate. Changes in your health, relationships, responsibilities, or emotional well-being can all be signs that additional support may help.
Signs may include:
- Drinking or using more than intended or struggling to cut back
- Experiencing cravings or withdrawal symptoms when substance use stops
- Returning to alcohol or drug use after previous attempts to quit
- Using substances to cope with stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma
- Falling behind at work, school, home, or in relationships
- Continuing to use despite negative consequences
- Hearing concern from friends or family members
